Phyllis Aleman has dedicated over 800 hours of service during her three years at East Jefferson General Hospital, earning her Volunteer of the Month honors for the month of August.
Every Monday morning, Aleman repots to the third floor surgery center where she checks in on families in the waiting areas, bringing them coffee, helping them with directions or just lending a helpful hand.
The surgery waiting area is a place where many family members have their first encounter with the hospital, most often during a stressful time. Having a volunteer such as Aleman in that position helps relieve that stress and make the waiting area a more positive atmosphere.
Not only does she fulfill her own duties, but the always-helpful volunteer also helps train newcomers to the program, helping maintain a high-standard of care in the surgery center.
Thank you to Phyllis Aleman for all she does to help make East Jefferson General Hospital great every day!
