Family Medicine Resident, First YearThomas E. Santamaria, M.D.
Thomas Santamaria is originally from El Salvador and move to the United States during High School. He attended Dartmouth College and then taught high school chemistry and physics in Miami before attending medical school. Thomas then moved to New Orleans for Medical School at Tulane University School of Medicine and fell in love with the city’s rich culture, food and passion. He decided to stay in New Orleans for 3 more years after finding a perfect fit at East Jefferson‘s Family Medicine Program, where he enjoys working with a diverse group of fellow residents and great staff. In his future, he sees himself working with an underserved population in and out of the clinic. As a family physician he wants to form a partnership with patients, a trusting relationship through continuity of care that saves patients from financial hardship and worsening disease through preventive medicine and patient education. During his free time, Thomas loves to travel, cook, garden, run and homebrew.
