Carlie was born and raised in High Point, North Carolina and attended undergrad at the University of North Carolina where she majored in Biology and Human Geography. These majors gave her the opportunity to study abroad in Brazil where she learned about the challenges of sustainable development and the different factors affecting the health of a population. Between undergrad and attending medical school at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, she worked as a diabetes health educator and case manager. Carlie was drawn to family medicine because of its ability to impact individual patients and a community as a whole. Outside of work, Carlie enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, outdoor activities and cooking.
