LAMMICO, the largest medical malpractice insurance company in Louisiana, has awarded East Jefferson General Hospital with a $2,500 check thanks to exceptional reported patient safety results over the past year.
EJGH is the second highest rated institution in the state in terms of risk reduction, according to LAMMICO, and the recognition is part of the hospital’s ongoing efforts to lower sepsis rates, a potentially life-threatening risk of infection.
“Patient safety remains our highest goal at EJGH,” said Dr. Mark Peters, EJGH President and CEO. “We know being in a hospital can be a stressful time, but this recognition helps us ensure our community that we are constantly striving to make it as safe as possible when they walk in the front door.”
The LAMMICO Patient Safety Award recognizes major achievements by regional hospitals and facilities to improve patient safety and healthcare quality, consistent with LAMMICO’s ongoing efforts to mitigate liability through education, assessment and tailored clinical risk management resources. This annual award program was established in 2015 to applaud the most outstanding contributions of excellence in patient safety throughout Louisiana.
